Bow the Knee

Ruth

One Character I cam across recently is Ruth. She was given up by her father and given to the Egyptian Pharaoh.

At that time young girls where sacrificed as the people of Egypt believed this brought purity and clean life to the people of their country.

Ruth was no exception, a pretty little girl that was chosen by the king to be the one that was honoured to be sacrificed. but just as she was to be taken away and prepared for the ritual the king noticed a blemish on her skin. This meant Ruth was freed of the killing and another girl was taken instead.

Its a long story but Ruth becomes a Christian and ends up in Bethlehem where she is mocked and hated by local people because of her past.

On Ruths Journey she had married a man called Mohlon who had died at the hands on the Egyptians, she stayed and travel to Bethlehem with her mother in law Naomi.

One day while Naomi was worried and wondering if Ruth was going to be safe she met a traveller who told her all was going to be well and God will bless Ruth with a new husband and they will have Children and the children will have children and one of the children's children would be King. (at least something like that) and also somewhere along the line child would be born that will be worshipped as the Massiah (Son of God).

Anyway its a very very rough outline of the story and sure enough the travellers word was spot on.

Ruth's upbringing was harsh, she was destined to die as sacrifice to a faulse God, but the true God had plans for Ruth and used a blemish on her skin to save her from death. he then used Mahlon to tell her about a Christian beliefs and then Naomi to show love as a mother. Ruth had been through some hard times but each time God had it in control.

God says Trust in him. he has plans for each of us and those plans are better then we could ever believe. Just like Ruth. God has a plan for each of us but cant begin to help unless we ask him for it
