Expect The Best

It great to have your life mapped out and know what you want and think we know whats best. How ever sometimes the Best isnt always what we planned.

Iwant the best for my boys and I try real hard to give them the best. Education, happiness and love is alway some of the top prioritys. But some times they want something different.

If the boys want to stay up late and watch a film on a school night they think its the best thing to do. But as a dad I know that this could cause lack of sleep and lack of coserntration the nexty day. Lack of conserntration cou.ld then mean they dont learn as much as if they where fresh and alert.

Its a struggle sometimes to keep calm and not give in when my youngest is not wanting to settle down and my oldest is refusing to even think about bed because his little brother isnt asleep of he is watching TV.

God can work like this (after all he is our father) and he want the best for us all. he isnt the one that makes bad things happen, he isnt the one that send desarster and he give us all the free will to make our own desitions.

But what God does do is try to give us the best. It may be we had the best and that change but God knows his plans for good and we just need to trust and ask him. Its not 2nd best or make do, it another best and one that he could be in control of if we let him.

The Tech Nerd

Finally I can get back to the computer after my Laptop lost all power and ability to be intelligent. No idea why, but hope to have it sorted soon.

Lucky for me I have a Desktop I am now using in the Office and can finally blog about so many things that have come into my head this last non-ccomputer week.

Yep desktop works ok, but the other hassel of getting my important stuff back was another issue and I found myself turning to The Tech Nerd.

This a good friend of mine that is not only a great guy but he knows so much about computers and as a christian he helps me find my way sometimes.

Anyway he managed to take my hard drive out of my laptop and transfer some contents across to the PC which to me was amazing, but to him was just the norm.

Sometimes we see a disaster and cant see the possibility of it being fixed. We panic and try and think of ways to make it right and the more we think about ways round it the situation start looking worse and worse and tell are self there is no fixing it.

The Tech Nerd knew what to do and had a few tricks up his sleeve, and with in 30 minuets he had saved the files and all seemed ok.

When we feel there no way out of the situation and nothing can be done. Call on Jesus because he know and wants the best. he doesn't create bad situations but he does want to help put them right, or if not make them better. And sometimes it nothing like what we think or expect.

11 yr Old Went to Heaven.

Waking up today I once again felt that I just didn't want to go to work. I laid in bed thinking I could just stay in bed and forget the stuff that needs doing.

Then I got a boost of energy and started to fight back, I got up and got to work, had a coffee, booked a gym session and then got a massive feeling that I needed to blog. Not sure why, not sure what about. But needed to get computer on to blog about something.

Not knowing what to blog I started to listen to some music on youtube and came across this video. I'm not 100% sure what to make of it but what a great story and I believe that this is possible. what do you think?

Rediscovering Wonder. from Rob Bell

Ambitions

When I was a kid, Id play for hours alone kicking a ball against the wall in our garden and in my mind the back garden took on the image of Wembley or Twickenham (did I mentioned I played at Twickenham once).

Suddenly I could be playing against Kevin Keegan and Terry Butcher and Wembley or Brian Moore and Will Carling at Twickenham. As I entered this little world of fantasy in the back garden of Glemsford Close nothing mattered and the world out side of the garden where far away from where my mind was.

I'm sure many people will remember similar times as the surroundings took on a whole different meaning. Someone once told me the road outside their back gate was his Wimbledon centre court as he and his mate would be in the Wimbledon Final again and again.

This type of play is great for kids as they learn, dream and build ambitions. As adalts we still learn, have dreams and ambitions but these things can maybe change as we almost become restricted through our knowledge and experiences.

Why do Ambitions need to be realistic? Why should Ambitions need to be achievable?... They dont.

Many of are ambitions are self Centred and built around ourselves, for are own rewards and there nothing wrong with that, as long as it does harm of effect others in a bad way. But its great to have ambitions that could benifit others.

I have a new ambition and one that is both self centred and could benifit others, that is to do Gods will and to follow where I think he is leading me. It still a bit mad really and some that know me may also say its unachievable. But Im trusting God and praying for him to lead me.

Try and have ambitions, and try to make those ambitions good and for good as thats what Gods ambitions are.

London 2012 - Rio 2016 Be Yourself

So the much waited 2012 Olympics games is over and the flame is out and the flag has been taken to Brazil as they take over and plan towards the 2016 Games.

London now takes on the transformation for the Para Olympics which I'm really looking forward too.

It has been reported that the preparation for Rio is behind schedule and that the panic is on to get things up to speed for the event that is still 4 years away. I think we have heard this somewhere before.

Brazil have a hard act to follow as did London after the Beijing Olympics but I'm sure they will host a colourful games and will do them self proud.

Taking over something is always going to be hard and to follow in the footsteps of the one before is going to be trick and people will sometimes try and compare you with your predecessor. But There is only one way to do the best you can do and that's to do it your way.

Off course there will be great things left behind by the people before, but you cant do anything if you try and do anything but be yourself.

A certain England rugby coach took over an England side that had achieved great things. they had won the world cup In 2003 and where looking too regroup and defend the title in the next 4 years.

Many of the players that won the World Cup in Sydney had suggested they where going to retire but the following season they where still wanting to be available for selection.

The Time came where in the following season the 6 notions was approaching and England would take on Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy in the 6 Nations championship in January/ February 2004

When the England Squad was announced people where shocked when some of the Legendary Cup winning side where left out why would a coach leave out such great players? The coach was quoted in the press saying ''Im not here to give a grand farewell to anyone, I'm here to build a side and win games''

What he was saying was he was doing things his way and as much as he knew the staff before had done a great job and won the ultimate prize he knew he had to move forward and look towards players that would be the future of England Rugby.

OK that guy was sacked, and another too on the challenge just in time for the 2007 World Cup. but England with new blood were not give a hope but made it to the final and lost to a South African side in what would be a great final.

You can emulate anyone else, you can be anything else. So the only thing you can be is yourself. The only thing you can do is do things the way you do things. of course we need to learn from others and our mistakes but the only thing you can do is your best and be the person god created.

London 2012 - Pray Anywhere

Ok so the Olympics is still going and Team GB are still winning the odd medal. I'm finding I'm not watching it as much now as I was last week as its all getting a bit dull now.

Don't get me wrong, I love sport and the Olympics have been great but I think the BBC have over killed it now and to be honest I'm starting to get annoyed at the repeats of events every five minuets.

The one thing I have found this week is that with all that's going on I have suddenly realised that I haven't given much time to pray or read my bible. I also haven't blogged which is sometimes a great way for me to relax and have time to get my thoughts straight.

Then I remembered Daniel. He would pray to god anywhere he could. When the King told people that they where no longer aloud to pray Daniel refused to stop and would pray anywhere he was. So maybe I don't have an excuse.

Some times we need to refresh our faith and look to God for a ''top up''. Its also OK to pray for time to put aside for prayer and reading the bible. I'm not great a praying (especially out loud) but I include this in my prayers and ask for help.

With the BBC coverage of The Games it has been virtually impossible to avoid it. So How have I avoided God this week? and how am I going to make sure I have time in the future? I'm gonna try and follow Daniels example and when I think of it I'm going to do it straight away where ever I am.

London 2012 - Day ?? (Bridge)

i seem to have got my days muddled up and am 1 or 2 days behind. Yesterday Team GB won 2 Gold medals so wanted to make sure that was noted, before I tried to get back on track with my days. So now I'm going to try and cover up the mistake or at least try and make it right.

I'm sorry about this. I was not counting the Opening Ceremony as Day 1 and Saturday was Day 1 as that's when the first medal was won. Also I'm reporting on the day before so yesterday was Day 5 and Today is Day 6 ..... I think.

We will always make mistakes and do bad things that go against Gods will. The bible calls these thing ''sin'' and we ALL do it. Nobody on this earth is without sin and and those people that say they are committing sin by saying they are.

So how do we put these mistakes right? Well I hope I covered up the Day mix up well as I felt the best thing to do was realise my fault and firstly put my hands up and say "yep, I was wrong". Second thing is to apologise, not only to others but to God.

Sin can be a scary word, but we need to know its something that happens in life and even when we try and live without sin it will try and find away back in.

God Knows we are going to sin. He didn't want us too, but he knows we do. So what did he do to make it OK. well we have to find a way to God, but there is a massive gap between us and him. When we sin the gap seems to get wider. So God created a way to cross that gap easily.

See, he sent Jesus to earth to ultimately die in the most painful way possible, he was hung to the cross and left to die a slow death.

But why do Christians keep going on about this?....... Because Jesus came to die for all the sin we do. Dieing on the cross was to take the punishment for us.

To become a christian we need to know Jesus and know he died for our sins so that we could have forgiveness for them.

Jesus said ''No one comes to the father except through me'' or in other words, before we can be with our father (God) in heaven. we need to ask Jesus into our lives and ask him to forgive us.

So mistakes can happen, but we can turn to Jesus as he bridges the gap between us and God.

London 2012 - Justice Done?

The Badmington players that tried to lose the match yesturday have be removed from the Games after it was ruled they failed to follow the Olympic Standards and "not using one's best efforts to win a match".

This Is a great moment for the Olympics and hope it sends a message out to all athletes.

What a great rule... lets all try and live to that rule.

London 2012 - Day 4

So as the Olympics pick up speed Team GB once again pocketed a medal in the Equestrian (which confused me as I was thinking Aquatics but It had nothing to do with horses swimming)

But the Story of the day that stood out to me was the Badminton and two teams both playing each other and both wanted to lose. This was because they wanted the easier game in the next round, and reportedly where serving into the net and serving out so they didn't win.

Today I heard there was talk of taking action against these teams but they haven't broken any rule so its will be hard to take action. Maybe the Olympic committee can come into action and over ride the International Badminton Committee as this type of tactics don't adhere to the Olympic morals.

If one of these teams do go on to win Gold, would they have won? Ive always said that Id rather loose than win by foul means. Sport should be played for Enjoyment and fitness and yes of course you should always play to win and give your best.

Its the same in my business. Id rather hold my head up high knowing I have always been honest and fair rather than tried to make an extra few quid by ripping people off.

Remember God knows everything about you, he knows your thoughts and he know you future. Also we know ourselves and if we can hold our head up and say Ive tried my best and happy with ourselves then we will be winners. People can judge us, but the they can take action against us, but the most inportant is how we judge ourselves and how God judges us.
